Being green is a concept I’ve grown up with, although we didn’t call it that. It was just being responsible. When I joined the real estate industry I looked for ways to incorporate my ecological values into how I did business. I sought out programs and products to share with my clients that reinforced sustainability and green. The logical next step was the Ecosociate certification course by EcoBroker, and so I earned the Ecosociate designation in May of 2008.

What is an Ecosociate Certification by EcoBroker®?  It's The Green Designation for Real Estate Agents....

EcoBroker Certified® professionals help clients market properties with green features, save money, and live comfortably, through energy efficiency and environmentally-sensitive choices.

EcoBroker offers education and tools to real estate professionals that in turn help consumers take advantage of energy efficiency and environmentally sensitive design in real estate properties. Through EcoBroker’s unique energy and environmental curriculum, real estate professionals acquire the knowledge and resources to become Certified Ecosociates. These real estate professionals assist clients with information on energy and environmental issues as well as strategies for finding and marketing homes with green and energy efficient features. The core curriculum includes three courses: 

EcoBroker Environmental Advantage™ - Addresses potential environmental issues in a real estate transaction such as radon, asbestos, lead, and mold. Providing clients with solutions. Help clients with resources to evaluate and improve indoor air quality and water quality for health and comfort. Learn about the environmental, health and savings benefits of green buildings.
 
EcoBroker Energy Advantage™ - Explores energy saving home features and sustainable energy options such as solar as well as the leading “green” home certification programs including Energy Star^®, LEED^® and NAHB National Green Building Program^TM and green financing tools like Energy Efficient Mortgages and the Keystone HELP program.

EcoBroker Green Market Advantage™ - Applies the energy and environmental training directly to finding and marketing homes and properties with green features, Energy Star^®, LEED^® and NAHB National Green Building Program^TM certified homes and connect clients with information on available financial incentives such as tax credits and rebate programs.
